Question No 1
If an insane person comes to your house and behaves in an unruly manner.
i. Avoid him as far as possible
ii. If he is a known person or a neighbor of yours, inform his family members and make arrangements to take him safely to his house
iii. Try to obtain the service of a Police officer ( by dialing 15)
iv. You should always act to prevent any possible harm that may be caused by him. If his behavior is liable to cause damage especially to the property and if your reaction can cause any harm you should refrain from doing so. If you feel that this insane person is going to act in a manner that will cause you an injury or your death, you can act for your private defense against him although he is an insane person




Question No 2
If your neighbor is encroaching your land and putting up a wall or fence
i. Take steps to discuss this matter with him and settle the matter amicably
ii. Take steps to obtain the services of a Police Officer
iii. If no satisfactory response from above sources, consult a lawyer and take legal action against him
iv. If this is an unauthorized construction, you may take steps to inform the relevant Local Government Authority




Question No 3
In case of tendering a fraudulent cheque or issue a cheque when there are no funds in the account.
i. Take steps to discuss with him and settle the matter
ii. Before making a complaint tender the cheque to the bank and ascertain whether it is a dishonored cheque
iii. If the amount in the cheque is less than Rs.100,000 inform the local Police station.
iv. When dealing with this type of dishonored cheques, Police can investigate with regard to a fraudulent act committed by the person, but Police has no authority to recover the financial loss from the respondent as expected by complainant. A civil case should be instituted to recover the loss.




Question No 4
If you are often treated or harassed by nuisance Telephone calls
i. Dial 1218 or 18 & complain the matter
ii. Take steps to inform the relevant Telephone Regulatory Officer
iii. You can lodge a complaint at the police station
iv. After making the complaint to police, if the identity of the persons who gave the call is revealed, summon the complainant to the police station and inquire the matter




Question No 5
If a suspicious character is loitering closer to your house as near an important public place
i. Discuss this matter with neighbors and make further inquiries about the persons
ii. Take steps to obtain the service of the Police Officer by dialing 15
iii. Try to establish his identity if you see him again
iv. If the suspicious person has come in a vehicle or a Motor cycle, it is important to note the registration number and the color of the vehicle or Motor cycle




Question 6
If one of your neighbors daily comes home drunk, and fights with is family members and use obscene language causing inconveniences to other neighbors,
i. Take steps to solve this problem by advising him through his neighbors, through a Religious Dignitary or the Principal of the school of the area
ii. Explain that this behavior after consuming liquor is a serious offence
iii. There after legal action could be taken against him through police




Question No. 7
If the trees planted closer to the boundary of the adjoining land causes danger to the house or to the occupants of the house
i. Try to discuss with them and settle the matter amicably
ii. Inform CDA
iv. If a settlement is not possible through above source, inform the police and settle it through court of law.




Question No 8
Operation of a Welding workshop or a Timber saw mill closer to your house is causing the fluctuation of electricity supply and the noise is causing noise pollution.
i. Try to settle the matter after discussing with the owners
ii. Inform CDA
iii. Inform the relevant police station 
iv. If you fail to solve, inform court and get a court order to remove these obstacles




Question No 9
If the adjoining house or the business premises is using the radio, cassette or loudspeaker causing inconvenience to the occupants of the house.
i. Try to settle the matter after discussing with them
ii. Take steps to make a complaint to police of the area, if not legal action could be taken through police




Question No 10
Steps be taken when buying a vehicle
i. Produce the Chassis number, Engine number, and the Registration number of the vehicle to Rescue 15 and verify those particulars 
ii. When you purchase a vehicle, you should produce all documents and register it in your name. If not, you may be liable for any crime committed prior to
vi. In a matter of this nature relevant advices could be obtained from Rescue 15.




Question No 11
Steps to be taken when transferring a Gun license to any other person.
i. A back ground report of the person to whom the gun is transferred should be obtained from the police station
ii. This report should be referred to Ministry of Defense for approval




Question No 12
Step to be taken when renewing a gun license at the end of the year .
i. Fill up the relevant forms and hand over them to relevant District Secretariat (Kachcheri) together with the valid license of the previous year. Thereafter renewal will be done on the recommendation of the Superintendent of the Police and with the approval of Divisional secretary
 




Question No 13
Step to be taken when you come across a property with out an owner.
i. Inquire about the ownership of the property and hand over to the owner if he proves ownership
ii. If you fail to trace the owner of the property hand it over to the nearest police station and ask them to give it over to the genuine owner or to court




Question No 14
Step to be taken when you come across a parcel with out an owner ,
i. When you come across such a parcel with out an owner, if you fail to trace the owner immediate step should be taken to inform this to the people of the vicinity and ask them to leave the place
ii. Thereafter this should be brought to the notice of a Police officer or police station
iii. On receipt of such information police should rush to the spot and remove all the people from the area if they have not vacated
iv. If you feel that this parcel could cause any damage to the public or to the property, steps should be taken to inform the Bomb Disposable Squad




Question No 15
Steps to be taken after a Motor vehicle accident,
i. According to the nature of the accident if there are any injured persons admit them to a hospital
ii. Arrangements should be made to mark the position of the vehicles concerned and should remove them from the road to avoid traffic block
iii. If parties concerned are not prepared for an amicable settlement, inform the matter to the relevant police




Question No 16
Steps to be taken when a person commits suicide by hanging.
i. If the person is not dead steps should be taken immediately to remove him to hospital
ii. If the person is dead report to police
iii. The general public should be aware that they should not enter the premises or rush to the place of incident until Police Officer arrives at the scene for investigations




Question No 17
Steps to be taken when you see a dead body on the road.
i. If there are any documents relating to diagnose the sickness of the dead person or prescriptions of medicines taken, hand them over to authorities
ii. Steps should be taken to inform this to relevant police station. Every citizen is bound by law to comply with this action .People should not ignore this as if they have not seen it




Question No 18
If a person dies in a vehicle while running on the road.
i. First of all inform this to the driver of the vehicle
ii. Thereafter arrangement should be made to produce him before a doctor as early as possible
iii. Then if the doctor confirms the person is dead, inform this to the nearest police station and act according to the instructions given by police
