ISLAMABAD: July 01, 2018: Islamabad Police have arrested 552 criminals including 47 absconders and recovered valuables worth more than Rs.27.471 million from them, a police spokesman said. Following directions of SSP Islamabad Najeeb-ur-Rehman Bugvi, all police officials accelerated efforts in tracing the theft as well as burglary cases and provide maximum relief to citizens by resolving their problems. In compliance of direction of SSP, heads of all police stations reviewed performance of their subordinates especially Investigation Officers probing various cases. Owing renewed efforts during June, police arrested 83 persons involved in 47 dacoity/robbery cases and recovered looted or snatched valuables worth Rs.1,22,49,700. Police officials completed investigation on a total of 575 cases and submitted their challans in relevant courts. A total of 42 burglary/theft cases were resolved besides arrest of 57 burglars and valuables worth over Rs. 51, 55,000 were recovered from them. Police also arrested 122 accused involved in lifting cars, motorbikes and tempering them while 32 cars worth Rs. 100,66,000 and 15 bikes were recovered from them. During special crackdown against absconders, police arrested 19 proclaimed offenders and 28 court absconders. Police apprehended 67 persons for possessing illegal weapons and recovered two Kalashnikovs/Rifles, 71 pistols and 278 rounds from them. A total of 85 persons were held for having narcotics and liquor while 82 cases were registered against them besides recovery of 15.521 kilogram hashish, 6.228 kilogram heroin and 773 wine/liquor bottles. To ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens, a total of 12 combing/search operations were conducted along with personnel of law enforcement agencies and 90 suspects were held. During the same period, the legal action was taken against 1397 professional alm-seekers while three blind murder cases were resolved and three alleged killers were nabbed. A total of 35 other criminal were also held for their involvement in crime cases of various nature. Thirteen persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in immoral activities while 16 gamblers were also held. Police took strict action against those involved in `sheesha smoking’ and arrested 19 persons involved in it. Action was initiated against 37 habitual criminals, 446 wanderers while 483 persons were bound for guarantee not to create any law and order situation. SSP (Operations) Najeeb-ur-Rehman Bugvi said the police officers and jawans remained firm against the activities of mischievous elements and emerged successful during the ongoing year. He urged the police officials to adopt decent and polite attitude as it helps in inculcating friendly police ecology and resolving public issues. He also directed for effective crackdown against drug peddlers so that society can get rid of drug menace. He asked police officials for effective patrolling to check street crime and dacoity or snatching incidents. The SSP (Operations) appreciated the overall performance and directed for effective policing measures in the city.
