Islamabad Traffic Police has released its performance report for the month of August, highlighting enforcement actions against traffic violations as well as road safety awareness activities. According to the report, effective enforcement and special crackdowns were carried out at various locations across the city to prevent traffic violations and improve traffic flow.
During August, action was taken against more than 72,000 citizens for violating traffic laws. More than 13,000 violators were penalized for lane violations, over 5,000 for wrong-way driving, more than 10,000 for illegal parking and over 5,300 motorcyclists for riding without helmets.
During the same period, more than 7,000 vehicles and motorcycles were impounded at various police stations for violations of traffic laws. Effective action was also taken against vehicles with tinted windows and rickshaws entering the Islamabad Capital Territory.
Alongside enforcement measures, Islamabad Traffic Police also carried out extensive awareness activities to promote traffic law compliance and road safety among citizens. During August, more than 130,000 citizens were educated about traffic laws, road safety and responsible driving. Those reached included employees of public and private organizations, students of educational institutions and students of the Road Education Uraan Driving School.
Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad Kainaat Azhar Khan said that equal emphasis is being placed on both enforcement and public awareness to ensure compliance with traffic laws. She said that measures to discourage traffic violations, prevent road accidents, ensure safe travel for citizens, and improve traffic flow would continue with greater effectiveness.
She urged citizens to strictly follow traffic laws, observe lane discipline, wear helmets while riding motorcycles, and demonstrate responsibility and caution on the roads.
The Chief Traffic Officer said that providing citizens with a safe and convenient travel environment is among the top priorities of Islamabad Traffic Police. Efforts to curb traffic violations, promote road safety, and further improve the traffic management system across the federal capital will continue.
