According to the details, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi chaired a command conference at the Central Police Office (CPO) Islamabad, attended by all senior officers of Islamabad Police. The conference reviewed security arrangements, traffic management, Safe City monitoring, public facilitation, and the overall security situation in the federal capital ahead of the 79th Independence Day.
During the conference, IGP Islamabad reviewed preparations in view of the expected movement of large numbers of citizens toward recreational areas, major roads, important locations, and public gatherings. He directed the deployment of additional police officials at key locations and event venues, effective monitoring of entry and exit points, and increased police presence across the city.
IGP Islamabad directed officers to further intensify enforcement under the “No to Weapon” campaign against illegal weapons, the display of weapons, and aerial firing. He made it clear that anyone found possessing or displaying illegal weapons or engaging in aerial firing would face strict legal action without discrimination.
He also directed that Safe City monitoring be further strengthened to ensure continuous surveillance of major roads, important and sensitive locations, and prompt police response to any untoward situation. He ordered effective monitoring of hotel registrations and records through the Hotel Eye software and directed officers to maintain close vigilance against suspicious activities.
To ensure smooth traffic flow on Independence Day, additional traffic police officials will be deployed at major roads, intersections, recreational areas, and event venues. The IGP Islamabad directed the Traffic Police to ensure effective traffic management, adequate parking arrangements, and alternative routes where required, while facilitating the movement of citizens across the city.
IGP Islamabad further directed all concerned units to maintain close coordination among Security, Traffic, Safe City, Hotel Eye, and other relevant departments to ensure a prompt and coordinated response to any situation. He also emphasized that police officials deployed in the field must facilitate citizens with professionalism, responsibility, and courteous conduct.
IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi made it clear that no negligence or lapse in security, traffic management, or public facilitation arrangements would be tolerated. He said Islamabad Police is fully prepared to protect the lives and property of citizens, ensure the rule of law, and maintain a peaceful environment so that citizens can celebrate the 79th Independence Day safely and peacefully with national spirit.
