No: 1358/PRB/CPO. Following the special directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Captain (Retd.) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry, Islamabad Police intensified its crackdown against criminal elements and conducted extensive search and combing operations across the federal capital.
During the past week, police arrested 217 accused, including 145 court absconders, proclaimed offenders and previously recorded criminals, along with 72 accused involved in drug trafficking and illegal weapons possession.
Police recovered 4,192 grams of ice, 5,169 grams of hashish, 1,531 grams of heroin, 10 liquor bottles, one gun, five knives and 36 pistols of different calibers, along with ammunition. Cases have been registered and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, search and combing operations were conducted under the supervision of zonal SPs. Police checked 2,576 persons, 986 houses, 227 shops, 93 hotels, 1,216 motorcycles and 488 vehicles. For verification, 137 suspicious persons, 142 motorcycles and two vehicles were shifted to police stations.
DIG Islamabad Ali Waseem said that Islamabad Police is committed to protecting citizens’ lives and property and eliminating crime from the capital. He directed officers to strengthen search operations, ensure legal procedures and take effective action against criminal elements, while respecting citizens’ dignity.
He urged citizens to report any suspicious activity or person to the relevant police station or emergency helpline Pucar-15 and stressed the importance of police-public cooperation in maintaining peace and security.
