No: 1212/PRB/CPO. According to the details, Islamabad Police continue their effective crackdown against criminal elements involved in extortion and harassment of citizens.
Following complaints regarding extortion and harassment, SP Swan Zone Muhammad Khurram Ashraf took immediate notice and constituted a special police team to take action against those involved.
The police team, using professional tactics and effective surveillance, arrested two accused red-handed while allegedly collecting extortion money.
According to police, the arrested accused were allegedly harassing citizens and plot owners in Ghouri Town and unlawfully collecting money from them in the name of security charges. A case has been registered against the accused at Koral Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
SP Swan Zone Muhammad Khurram Ashraf said that elements involved in illegally extorting money by harassing citizens would receive no leniency. Strict and indiscriminate legal action will be taken against such elements, while every possible measure will be taken to ensure the protection of citizens.
He further stated that police teams have been kept active in the field to ensure prompt response to citizens’ complaints and effective prevention of crime. Efforts are also underway to identify and arrest other individuals allegedly involved in extortion activities.
SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza appreciated SP Swan Zone Muhammad Khurram Ashraf and his team for the successful operation. He said that protecting the lives and property of citizens and taking effective action against criminal elements remain among the top priorities of Islamabad Police.
He reiterated that action against elements involved in harassing citizens and unlawfully collecting money will be further intensified, and all available resources will be utilized to bring lawbreakers to justice.
