No: 1075/PRB/CPO. According to the details, following the special directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, Islamabad Police has finalized a comprehensive security and traffic plan for the central Chehlum procession.
Under the security plan, more than 3,000 police officials will be deployed, while all DIGs, SSPs, SPs, and other senior police officers will remain present in the field to personally supervise the security and traffic arrangements.
IGP Islamabad stated that the central Chehlum procession in G-6 is of utmost importance. A comprehensive seven-layer security cordon has been established for the procession. Three-tier security screening, walk-through gates, metal detectors, body searches, rooftop deployment, inner and outer cordons, snipers, CTD commandos, SWAT teams, and other specialized units will be deployed at the procession route, while additional police officials will also be stationed at sensitive locations and vantage points.
He further said that Islamabad Police, Rangers, and other law enforcement agencies will perform security duties through close coordination and a unified security strategy. The procession and surrounding areas will be continuously monitored through Safe City surveillance cameras, mobile surveillance units, drone monitoring, mobile control rooms, and the command and control system to ensure an immediate response to any emergency.
IGP Islamabad further stated that Islamabad Traffic Police will implement a special traffic management plan to ensure smooth traffic flow during the Chehlum procession. Alternative routes, diversion points, dedicated traffic deployments, and additional traffic officials will be in place to guide commuters and minimize inconvenience to the public.
He appealed to citizens to avoid illegal parking, use only the designated parking areas, follow the instructions of traffic police, and immediately report any suspicious person, activity, or object to the nearest police officer or the Police Emergency Helpline "Pukar-15."
IGP Islamabad reaffirmed that Islamabad Police is utilizing all available resources to ensure the protection of lives and property, maintain a peaceful environment, and facilitate the safe and peaceful conduct of the Chehlum procession.
