Islamabad Police Intensifies Crackdown on Criminal Elements; Search and Combing Operations Continue

During Search Operations, 2,823 Individuals, 1,149 Houses, 235 Shops, 52 Hotels, 1,557 Motorcycles and 565 Vehicles Checked. According to the details, following the special directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Captain (Retd.) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry, Islamabad Police continues its effective crackdown against criminal elements and efforts to prevent crime. During the past week, police teams arrested 370 accused involved in serious crimes and recovered drugs, illegal weapons and ammunition from their possession. The arrested accused included 296 court absconders, proclaimed offenders and previously recorded criminals, while another 74 accused were arrested on charges of drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons. Police recovered 5,550 grams of ice, 6,058 grams of hashish, 1,210 grams of heroin, 114 liquor bottles, three guns, two daggers and 37 pistols of different calibers along with ammunition. Cases have been registered against the arrested accused, and further investigation is underway. Furthermore, to curb criminal activities and protect citizens’ lives and property, grand search and combing operations were conducted in various areas under the supervision of zonal SPs. During these operations, police checked 2,823 individuals, 1,149 houses, 235 shops, 52 hotels, 1,557 motorcycles and 565 vehicles. For further verification, 130 suspicious individuals, 137 motorcycles and three vehicles were shifted to different police stations. Police also recovered six pistols and 31 rounds of ammunition during the search operations. DIG Islamabad Ali Waseem said that Islamabad Police remains actively engaged in protecting citizens’ lives and property and eliminating crime from the federal capital. He added that search, combing and intelligence-based operations would continue to be strengthened to make action against criminal elements more effective. He further stated that under Islamabad Police’s “No to Weapon” campaign, indiscriminate action is continuing against illegal possession and display of weapons and aerial firing. Effective measures are also being taken to arrest proclaimed offenders and previously recorded criminals, eliminate drug-related crime and ensure the timely provision of justice to citizens. DIG Islamabad directed officers to make checking during search operations more effective while respecting citizens’ dignity and ensuring compliance with legal requirements. He also instructed them to maintain close surveillance of suspicious activities. He emphasized that effective cooperation between police and citizens is essential for eliminating crime and maintaining law and order. He urged citizens to immediately report any suspicious activity or person to the relevant police station or the Pukar-15 emergency helpline so that timely action can help prevent crime.
